BIOGRAPHY
orn in 1997 in Asahikawa, Japan, Tsuzumi Namikawa began to play the piano at the age of five. She has been rewarded in numerous national and international competitions, including 1st prize at the 13th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Marienbad, 1st prize at the International Piano Prize Napolinova in Naples, 2nd prize at the Carl Filtsch Competition in Sibiu, and 2nd prize at the international Schimmel Piano Competition in Braunschweig. At the international competition Münchner Klavierpodium der Jugend, she was awarded a total of ten prizes. Tsuzumi was also twice honored with the Louis-Spohr Youth Music Promotion Award by the city of Braunschweig and has enriched the cultural life of the region with numerous concerts. Her performances have taken her beyond Germany to France, Finland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and her native Japan.
At the age of nine, Tsuzumi moved with her family to Germany. After receiving piano lessons from Prof. Wolfgang Zill, she continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover, where she has been studying in the class of Prof. Ewa Kupiec ever since, currently in the Artist diploma. As an ERASMUS student, she spent a semester in Paris with Prof. Jonas Vitaud. Other important artistic influences throughout her education include Akiko Ebi, Ewa Pobłocka, Janina Fialkowska, and Kevin Kenner.
